NEET 2024 Paper Leak: CBI files a FIR for irregularities in National medical entrance exam conducted by NTA.

Latest Update on NEET 2024 paper leak case. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered a FIR and opened an inquiry to look into possible anomalies in the national medical entrance exam. This action was taken in response to several complaints and allegations of unfair exam processes, including the release of paper records, on May 5, 2024.

CBI registered a regular case in the NEET exam paper leak case after the complaint of the Ministry of Education. CBI started the investigation by registering an FIR under IPC section 420 (fraud) and 120B (conspiracy). According to sources, CBI has registered a separate case. The cases of Bihar and Gujarat have not been taken over. The police of both the states are currently investigating and making arrests at their own level. When CBI is required to investigate further, Bihar and Gujarat police will be contacted, sources said.

“After the consent of the police of both the states and when needed, their case can be taken over and the case diary can be taken,” they added. (Source: India TV News)

The Supreme Court of India has also taken notice of the situation, issuing a directive to the Centre and the National Testing Agency (NTA) to respond to a petition seeking a CBI probe into the matter. This comes after widespread concerns over inflated scores and discrepancies in the NEET UG 2024 results, which were declared on June 4, 2024.

What is NEET 2024 Exam controversy?

The NEET 2024 exam, which is an essential beginning for prospective medical students in India, has been caught in controversy due to claims of paper leak and other irregularities. The situations have gotten worse, prompting CBI investigation and intense legal scrutiny. The Charges and Early Responses On May 5, 2024, the National Testing Agency (NTA) conducted the NEET UG 2024 exam at 4,750 centers located in 571 cities, including 14 sites abroad. On June 4, 2024, after the results were announced, parents and kids expressed concern over possible discrepancies and paper leaks. 69 students got perfect score of 720/720, an unusually high number of candidates for top scores compared to prior years when very few students accomplished this feat

The NTA has defended its processes in the midst of these scandals, claiming that the exceptionally high marks were the result of corrective action for applicants who experienced technical difficulties with the exam and inconsistencies in the answer key. The demand for comprehensive probe continues despite these explanations, underscoring the necessity of openness and justice in an evaluation procedure.
