Big Push for AI Skills and Free Coaching from Red Fort
New Delhi, August 15, 2026 Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday made several big announcements while speaking from the Red Fort on the 80th Independence Day. The focus was mainly on youth, technology, education, sports and national security. Among the key plans is a large AI skill training programme for one crore young people and free online coaching for competitive exams.
AI Training for One Crore Youth
Referring to the AI Summit held earlier this year, the Prime Minister said the government will provide Artificial Intelligence skill training to one crore youth in the next one year. He said this will help Indian youth lead the world in the field of AI. The training is aimed at building strong capability among young people across the country.
Free Online Coaching for Competitive Exams
PM Modi also announced free online coaching for students preparing for different competitive examinations. He said coaching classes put heavy financial pressure on poor and middle-class families. Many parents feel they must send their children to expensive coaching centres to stay competitive. With free online coaching, families can save a lot of money and still stay close to their children. The scheme will use digital public infrastructure and available teaching talent to create a full network of free coaching.
Civil Defence and Other Major Announcements
The Prime Minister further said the government will build a strong and modern Civil Defence network. Volunteers will be trained with latest systems so they can handle present-day emergencies and crises more effectively. Apart from these, he also spoke about a nationwide sports talent hunt for children, plans to expand semiconductor manufacturing in the country and higher targets for nuclear power generation. All these steps are aimed at preparing the youth and strengthening India’s future in technology and security.
