India has a new education minister now. His name is Pralhad Joshi. He got this post after previous minister Dharmendra Pradhan resigned because of big protests on NEET paper leak.
Many students was very angry after the NEET exam got cancelled. They came on roads and demanded that education minister should resign. After many weeks of protest, Pradhan left the post. Then government gave this job to Pralhad Joshi.
Simple Introduction of Pralhad Joshi
Pralhad Joshi is 63 year old and he is from Karnataka. He was born in 1962 in a place called Bijapur. He studied arts from KS Arts College in Hubballi.
After studies he started a chemicals business. But from young age he was interested in politics. He was connected with RSS organisation which is linked with BJP.
His political life started in early 1990s during some land issue in Hubballi. In 2004 he became MP from Dharwad for first time. After that he won five times continuously from same seat.
How He Grew in Politics
In 1998 he became BJP district president of Dharwad. Later in 2014 he became full president of Karnataka BJP.
In 2019 when Modi government came, Joshi got three ministries – Parliamentary Affairs, Coal and Mines. He worked to increase coal production. Some people criticised him for that because of climate issues.
In 2025 he got new ministries – New and Renewable Energy and also Consumer Affairs. He is still holding these posts. Now education ministry is also given to him.
People say he is close to Prime Minister Modi. After getting education ministry, Joshi said on social media that he is thankful to Modi for giving him this responsibility.
Big Challenges in Front of Him
The main problem he will face is trust of students. This year NEET paper leak made many young people very upset. Around 23 lakh students gave the exam but medical seats are only around 1.3 lakh. When paper leaked, whole exam was cancelled and re-exam happened.
Students protested a lot. Now everyone is watching what new education minister will do.
On Sunday, Joshi did his first meeting as education minister to understand the situation and start new work.
Final Thoughts
Pralhad Joshi is not new in Modi’s team. He is working with government since 2019. But education ministry is tough job after this big scandal. Students and parents are expecting some real changes now.
