
NTA Says Release Will Come Soon After Long Delay

National Testing Agency (NTA) is expected to release the University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET) June 2026 provisional answer key soon on its official portal ugcnet.nta.nic.in. More than one month already passed after the NET exam finished and nearly 10 lakh candidates are still waiting anxious for score estimation and PhD admission timeline.
Responding to queries on the delay, one NTA source told NDTV: “The June examination covered 87 subjects, which is a huge exercise. We will release the results soon.”
Exam Dates and What Students Will Get
The testing agency conducted the NET exams on June 22, 23, 24, 25, 29, 30 and a retest also held on July 5, 2026 across more than 600 centres. Along with official answer keys, NTA will also share the attempted question paper and response sheets of applicants.
As per official information, UGC NET applicants will get chance to challenge the answer key if they find any discrepancy, but they have to give valid justification and proof. Candidates need to pay Rs 200 per answer key challenged as non-refundable processing fee.
Big Impact on JRF, Teaching Jobs and PhD Admissions
UGC NET 2026 decide eligibility of Indian nationals for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF), appointment as Assistant Professor and admission to PhD in Indian universities and colleges. The long silence already pushed many PhD aspirants to start looking at private university options so that their whole year is not wasted completely.
